RBI Grade B Examination Pattern

RBI Grade B is the most prestigious examination in Indian banking services. We have posted the syllabus separately. Here we will be talking about the examination pattern as you have to get a clear understanding of how your paper will look like in order to hone the required skill set and collect the knowledge.

Examinations will be held in two phases, popularly known as phase 1 and phase 2. Selection will be through ON-LINE Examinations and interview.

Let us look at their pattern below :

(I) Phase-I online Examination (Objective Type):

Phase 1 has 4 modules. This Paper accounts for 200 marks.

  • Candidates have to secure minimum marks separately for each test as well as aggregate.
  • Candidates, who secure minimum marks separately for each Test, as prescribed, will be shortlisted for Phase-II of the examination based on the aggregate marks obtained in Phase-I.
  • *The ‘corrected-scores’ obtained by each of the candidates in different sessions (if held)  normalized using equi-percentile method.

(II) Phase-II online Examination: The Phase-II online Examination will be conducted only for the candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of results of Phase-I. The Phase-II examination held in shifts (i.e. Morning Shift and Afternoon shift)

Phase–II online examination will consist of three papers as under:

NOTE: All question papers (in both the Phases, except the test of English) will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.

(III) Interview
:

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, based on the aggregate of marks obtained in Phase-II (Paper-I +Paper-II +Paper-III).
  • Interview will be of 50 marks.
  • Candidate may opt for interview either in Hindi or English.
  • Final Selection will be through merit list which will be prepared by adding marks secured by candidates in Phase-II examination and interview.

Number of attempts: Candidates belonging to unreserved i.e. General Category, who had already appeared Six times for Phase-I Examination for this post in the past, are not eligible to apply. No such restriction applies to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD if the posts are reserved for them.

Note: There as a penalty for wrong answers marked in the Online Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. No marks are deducted for un-attempted questions.
