RBI Grade B GK topic list, Prepare for RBI Grade B GK

To understand the importance of GK in RBI Grade B exam, let us discuss the phase 1 GA section. In RBI Grade B phase 1, there are 80 questions from general awareness section. We can easily divide them into 3 parts based on the areas they are asked from.

  • Current affairs – Approx 40 marks
  • Static GK – Approx 30 marks
  • Banking awareness – Approx 10 marks

So now we know how important RBI Grade B GK is to clear the exam. But wait, here is a catch. They are not asking about dams, rivers, mountains etc directly like SSC exams. This is an exam for selecting an officer so the questions are asked in order to check the analytical skills whether you are able to correlate events or not.

This seems confusing. Please tell me how to prepare for RBI Grade B GK.

There is nothing to worry about this section. If you are keeping a close eye on the General Awareness section and paying attention to the details, you are already preparing for GK section unknowingly. Mugging up a whole lot of PDFs of static is an old approach nowadays. You should know the things, this is very good but knowing too much and forgetting what is required at the time of the exam will only make us mugger and loser rather being selected and becoming an achiever. We are not saying to stop reading or memorizing things, we are just suggesting to do it in context.

Let us clear it by an example. Let us take an example of corporate tax cuts by finance minister Nirmala Sitharamana. Just think what questions could be asked.

  • How much was the corporate tax was before the cuts?
  • How much is the corporate tax as of now?
  • How many percentages of corporate tax has been reduced?
  • Which of the following is a direct tax? (Options)
  • Which of the following is an indirect tax? (Options)
  • Who is the current finance minister?
  • Which one of the following is a structural reform? (Options)

Let us take another example. Suppose India gets some loan for an infrastructure project from Asian Development bank. Now think of the questions.

  • Where is the organization’s headquarter located?
  • Who is the chief?
  • Partner countries etc.
  • What is the loan amount? (GA question)
  • What is the project? (GA question)
  • Project is located in city X. X is in which state? (GK question)

So we have to be smart and careful while reading the general awareness section as it is the trigger point for the GK areas to be picked by RBI for the exam.
